1) How can I find out about current Freedom House employment opportunities?
All of our open positions are listed on the Careers page of our website at www.freedomhouse.org and also posted on external internet job boards.
2) How do I apply for a staff position at Freedom House?
We are proud of our open, fair, and transparent recruiting process. We invite qualified internal and external candidates to apply online via the Career Opportunities section of our website, www.freedomhouse.org . Paper applications will not be accepted via email or facsimile.
3) How can I apply for an internship opportunity at Freedom House?
Undergraduate or graduate students may serve as Freedom House interns as long as they are fulfilling an academic requirement or receiving academic credit. All Freedom House internship opportunities are listed on the career opportunities page of our website and on other internet job boards. Please regularly visit www.freedomhouse.org to view the open internship positions we have available at any given time and to apply online. Note: You must still apply online at www.freedomhouse.org , even when a job is posted on an external job board.
4) There are two different jobs that I am interested in, can I just apply online to one job?
Applicants should submit an online application for each individual position that they wish to apply for. By doing so you will ensure that our Human Resources department has received a copy of each application submitted.
5) How will I know that my resume was received by the Human Resources department?
Once you have completed your online application on www.freedomhouse.org , you will receive an automated e-mail confirming the successful submission of your application.
6) How soon will I know if I will be invited for an interview?
All resumes are carefully screened to determine if they meet the minimum requirements of the posted position. The Hiring Manager will shortlist candidates who are considered the top qualified for the open position. If your application is chosen and determined to be amongst those top qualified, then you will be contacted as soon as possible to schedule a phone or in-person interview.
7) Will my resume be considered for future job openings?
Each application is considered for the position for which you have specifically applied. Please be sure to submit an online application for any additional job openings that you may also be interested in to ensure that your application is reviewed for each position.
8) What is the length of time that a job will remain posted?
Each position will remain posted on our website until it has been filled or closed.
9) When will I be contacted about the status of my application?
Due to the volume of the responses that we receive, Freedom House will only contact applicants that have been chosen for interviews. We will follow up with all candidates selected for interviews with an e-mail indicating the status of their application as it is determined.
10) How will I know if a position has been filled?
Our Hiring Managers take as much time as is needed to ensure that each candidate’s suitability is carefully and thoroughly assessed. If you have interviewed for one of our open positions then you will receive an e-mail notifying you that the position has been filled. If you have not yet been contacted for an interview, you will receive a system-generated message when the position has been filled. Also, you may check the career opportunities page of our website to see if the position is still listed. If the position is no longer listed then the position has been filled or closed and we are no longer accepting applications.
11) What should I do if I do not hear back from anyone after an interview has taken place?
Our Hiring Managers take as much time as is needed to ensure that each candidate’s suitability is carefully and thoroughly assessed. If you have been selected for an interview then you will receive an e-mail indicating the status of your candidacy. If you have any other questions or inquiries regarding the position you applied for, we encourage you to send an e-mail to [email protected] .
12) May I follow up by e-mail or telephone to find out the status of my application?
Due to the volume of the responses that we receive, we are unable to respond to status requests on individual applications. If you have not yet been contacted for an interview, please check the career opportunities page of our website to see if the position is still listed. If the position is no longer listed then the position has been filled or closed and we are no longer accepting applications.
13) How may I find out the salary range for a particular job?
The salary range for each position is subject to several determining factors such as the budget for that particular program, and our compensation policy. Your salary requirements will be carefully considered when your application is reviewed by the Hiring Manager and our Human Resources department.
14) How do I know the full range of benefits you offer, and the providers?

In each posting, you can learn the great benefits Freedom House offers including health, dental, vision, life insurance and many more. You will receive a full list of our providers during the benefits enrollment process.

16) How may I find out the intended start date for a position?
Freedom House does not have a set start date for open positions unless otherwise stated in the job posting. Each position on our website will remain active until it is filled or closed.
17) May international applicants apply for a U.S.-based position with Freedom House?
Only candidates authorized to work in the U.S. without any restrictions need apply, unless stated otherwise in the specific job posting.
18) Does Freedom House offer summer internships?
Freedom House offers many internship opportunities throughout the course of the year. We encourage all interested individuals to check our website regularly at www.freedomhouse.org and apply for any internship opportunities that may be of interest to them. Undergraduate or graduate students may serve as unpaid interns as long as they are fulfilling an academic requirement or receiving academic credit.
