Rowena is the Global and EMEIA Technology Risk Operations officer responsible for driving and coordinating Leadership strategy execution workstreams and influencing senior leaders to achieve the right outcomes. Rowena advises senior executives on a broad range of complex strategy-related topics. Rowena was previously the director of insider threat within EY’s Investigation and Disputes practice and has over 20 years of experience in helping organisations, governments and agencies manage the risks associated with all security threats.

She is a senior security professional specialising in the insider threat discipline, born from her experience as a counter-intelligence leader with British Military Intelligence and her recent role leading the Intellectual Property & Trade Secrets Protection program across Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) for a Fortune 100 pharmaceutical. During her tenure as the EMEA head of the Insider Threat programme, Rowena’s role was to reduce the risk of data loss or misappropriation through nefarious or accidental compromise by insiders. The role was reliant on collegial stakeholder relationships to identify vulnerabilities, business process gaps, and human behavioral concerns, to develop mitigation strategies.

Rowena has led numerous insider threat investigations, in relation to full-time employees, contractors, and consultants and is well versed in the sensitivities and stakeholder relationship management of all the interested parties (Security, Legal, Compliance, I.T., Ethics, and H.R.).  Her experience of managing insider threat investigations and technology deployment has sensitized her to the challenges of Data Privacy and employment law, as well as compliance and regulatory matters. She has provided quantifiable data to Executive Committees to evidence that the risk from insider activity is a leading security concern, to inform risk management decisions.
